So You're Going to be a Maid of Honor

Congratulations, you are going to be a Maid (or Matron) of Honor at your loved one’s wedding. Whether they are a friend or family member this is an exciting time in both of your lives. If you have never had this honor bestowed upon you before you might not know what is expected of you, here is a list of the main responsibilities you now hold as the Maid/Matron of Honor:

- Helps the bride select bridesmaids’ attire

- Attends as many prenuptial events as possible

- Usually gives an individual gift to the couple

- Help to make sure that all the bridesmaids, the flower girl, and the ring bearer are at fittings, the rehearsal, and the ceremony on time

- Must attend the rehearsal and is included at the rehearsal dinner

- Walks in processional and recessional

- Holds the groom’s wedding ring

- Helps with the bride’s gown and veil during ceremony and reception

- Holds the bride’s bouquet during the ceremony

- Witnesses the signing of the marriage certificate

- Stands in the receiving line

- Keeps the bride on schedule

- Pays for own wedding attire, lodging, and transportation for the wedding

Of course weddings vary based on budget, location, and traditions so there are some items that would be added or taken off based on the particular bride.
